The presenters of the Atelier LJUBLJANA 2012: Bernard Faivre d’Arcier
Bernard Faivre d’Arcier joined the team of presenters of the Atelier for Young Festival Managers in Görlitz (2006), Varna (2009), Singapore (2011) and will now participate, for the fourth time, in Ljubljana. “The true role of a festival is to help artists to dare, to engage in new projects…” Bernard Faivre d'Arcier decided to join the Ministry of Culture as a civil service administrator after studies at the state administration school, ENA, in 1972. He became cultural advisor of the French Prime Minister, Laurent Fabius, from 1984 to 1985, and launched the television channel La Sept, the French pole of the French-German channel Arte in 1986.In 1989, he organised events celebrating the bicentenary of the French National Assembly. He was director of Theatre and Performance Art from 1989 to 1992.From 1993 to 2003, he was the Director of the Festival d'Avignon. From 1993 to 1998 he was also Director of the Centre National du Théâtre and Commissioner for the Hungarian Season in France in 2001.He is currently Cultural consultant (BFA-Conseil) and Chairman of “Les Biennales de Lyon” (visual arts and dance) and “Metz en scene” (musical venue). Nine renowned festival managers from all over the world will guide the participants throughout the seven days of the Atelier LJUBLJANA 2012 under the coordination of Hugo De Greef (Belgium): Robyn Archer (Australia), Bernard Faivre d’Arcier (France), Rose Fenton (United Kingdom), Nele Hertling (Germany), Michal Merzcyński (Poland), Jonathan Mills (United Kingdom), Gerard Mortier (Belgium) and Fruzsina Szép (Hungary).
