The Festival Academy long reads: Ode to the unwavering people of Afghanistan by Hjalmar Jorge Joffre-Eichhorn
The Festival Academy Long Reads give the floor to current and future festival leaders to voice their in-depth reflections on the work they are doing and more generally on art and culture and the role these can play in society today to be shared with a broad festival community.
For this edition we are honoured to give space to Hjalmar Jorge Joffre-Eichhorn, Theatre activist, co-founder Afghanistan Human Rights and Democracy Organization (AHRDO), Theatre of the Oppressed and Playback Theatre - Germany/ Bolivia/Afghanistan and mentor during the Gothenburg 2018 Atelier for Young Festival Managers. He is sharing his article ‘Ode to the unwavering people of Afghanistan’, an ode to a modest poetry, a poetry of courage, a poetry composed of generations of Afghans who were forced to live a life without future and who nonetheless never stopped dreaming and struggling for a future with life. We wish you an inspiring read.
Keep an eye out for The Festival Academy's activities newsletter following soon and we hereby already remind you that the calls for application for the 2020 training programmes are open until 15 October - Find out more on here.
