Contexts vary significantly in terms of resources, value systems, political and economic structures so that our experience and beliefs about the arts and festivals vary significantly too. How might insights into other contexts challenge or encourage us to think differently about our arts and festival practice? And in a time of rising nationalisms and chauvinism, and a general threat to world peace with the war in Ukraine as well as conflict continuing in other regions. What might solidarity and empathy mean in practice?
