In the framework of the partnership between The Arab Fund for Arts & Culture (AFAC) and The Festival Academy (an initiative of the European Festivals Association) to give more festival managers from the Arab region the chance to participate in the Ateliers for Young Festival Managers, AFAC will support - for the third time - two emerging festival directors working in the Arab region to take part in the 16th edition of the Atelier for Young Festival Managers, to take place in Eurometropolis Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai + Valenciennes (BE/FR) and is organised in partnership with - and during the International Arts Festival NEXT between 13 and 19 November 2019.

Tandem has selected one person to support his/her participation in the Atelier for Young Festival Managers NEXT. 

Tandem is a cultural collaboration programme that strengthens civil society in Europe and neighbouring regions.

From Berlin to Beirut, throughout wider Europe, participants join from a variety of places and communities. For example, a theatre director based in Tunis can work with a curator based in Sofia on developing a project about representation of refugees in the city. While building a collaborative project, both partners commit to the process of working together, to share their expertise and to learn from each other.

The International Cities of Refuge Network (ICORN) is an independent organisation of cities and regions offering shelter to writers and artists at risk, advancing freedom of expression, defending democratic values and promoting international solidarity.

ICORN and The Festival Academy join forces in the project Act for Global Change: A Global conversation from the arts to the world (ACT), thanks to the support of the Creative Europe programme of the European Union. During the period of 2019 – 2021 writers and artists related to ICORN have to opportunity to be selected to take part one of the training programmes in the context organised by The Festival Academy.
